Our projected roll this year will peak at 174 children. Our children are predominantly from a New Zealand European background, with small percentage of Maori, Pacifica, Indian, Chinese, and German heritage.
The catchment area is largely semi rural, with lifestyle blocks and subdivisions. There has been an enrolment scheme in place for the past couple of years, so our roll includes siblings of out of zone students, and a ballot is scheduled annually to tie in with neighbouring schools.
We have seven classrooms, and a Satellite Unit for Parkside Special School (hosted in our Pohutukawa room). These nine students enjoy being part of PEPS and our children enjoy the integration in a number of different activities.
We are a Decile 9 school. We have a strong PTA that works hard to raise funds that a Decils 9 school does not receive in funding from the Ministry.
The Board of Trustees are committed to retaining the rural nature of the school, as evident in the Charter. We have an annual Pet Day and endeavour to have the school as the hub of the Pukekohe East Community.
