Pukekohe East School is set in an historic semi-rural community, five kilometres from Pukekohe township. Since 1880, the school has had a history of excellent community support and high expectations for pupils. It has served as a focal point in the area.
The staff of the school are experienced, dedicated and caring professionals. The school is well resourced and has excellent information technology capability, which assists children to take responsibility for their learning.
The Board of Trustees and staff have a shared educational vision for the school, one which emphasises students' success, enjoyment and valuing of learning, and the development of respect for self, others and the environment. Classrooms have a settled, respectful tone and an emphasis on learning is clearly evident. Achievement data shows that the majority of students achieve well in the key areas of literacy and mathematics.
There is considerable pride taken by staff, the PTA, the Board of Trustees, children and wider community in the school. Parents enjoy an open door policy and there is a high level of communication between home and school. This is reflected in a superb learning environment for all.
